Defiant Audio Recordings and Solutions

Defiant Audio is located in Port Washington, NY, a 7 minute walk from the Port Washington LIRR train station.

Our goal and passion is found both in the reality and in the fantasy of recording; in attempted honest and naturalistic recording, as well as the distorted mystical magic at the stretches of audio technology. We are interested in sound, the methods of its electrical capture and its subsequent release through speakers.

We aim to provide artists with the technical skills and environment to have the creative freedom they need to follow any idea to fruition to the best of our ability and potentially even against our better judgement.

Christian Billard

Christian is a talented producer and recording engineer, who after many years of meandering in auditory experimentation, studied at the Abbey Road institute at the legendary studio. He possesses an expansive knowledge of the technical tried and true, and a great excitement for uncovering new sounds and approaches. He is also a skilled drummer, playing in the bands Qlowski, Turnip King, and Anna Altman.

Raphael Carleton

Raphael is a talented, self-taught recording engineer with over a decade of experience. His well researched knowledge of recording technology, techniques, sampling and synthesis are vast and he has the incredible ability to utilize them on the fly in any given session. He loves roomy and naturalistic recording styles. He has a knack for applying his practicality outlook to make sessions run smoothly and to make the impractical possible. He is also a skilled guitarist and keyboardist.
